D&G Spring-Summer 2011

D&G has always been one of my favorite luxury brands, I came across these images of the Milan Fashion Week D&G Spring - Summer 2011 collection. The collection is perfect for summer days spent picnicking in the garden. The collection has unearthed its gardening roots with floral maxi-dresses, bikinis, and canvas bloomers. Models held bags stuffed with towels, miniature watering cans, and D&G pink and purple gardening gloves, and wore red and green rubber "wellies" and four-inch platform soles.

The collection takes you on a garden adventure, with lavender, dahlias and roses, in the prettiest and most fashionable forms. Above are some of my favorite looks, in particular I am in love with the floral Maxi dress<3 !

All Maxed Out!

I found this great maxi dress, I love the design and color!I just had to wear it right away:) This week is a 4 day week! All South African are doing the "Happy Dance" because it is a long weekend!Cannot wait...We are celebrating Heritage Day more well known as "Braai Day".

Have a look at the new gorgeous gadget in my handbag, its from Iila Security and yes it looks like a key ring, but its not, its actually a personal alarm….called the ila Dusk which can be used if you find yourself in a sticky situation where you may need help. You pull the chain on the end and an ear piercing scream is released! Someone is bound to hear it and react. I love the fact that they have combined safety and a style to a gadget....This fashionista definitely feels safer!

Hope everyone has a safe and fantastic weekend!

Scones for Afternoon Tea

Scones

500ml cake flour (280g)

15 ml baking powder

2ml salt

75ml caster sugar (60g)

65g margarine or butter

1 egg

125ml milk

Tea

Lipton Green tea

  • Sift dry ingredients together. Add sugar
  • Rub margarine into dry ingredients until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Mix egg and milk together and add to dry ingredients, forming soft, but not sticky, dough.
  • Turn out onto a floured surface and pat out lightly, to a thickness of 20mm. Cut into rounds or squares. Place on a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit)for 12-15 min.
  • Serve scones with honey, syrup, grated cheese, butter, cream and jam.

So finally I remembered to take my camera and snap a couple of picks while I did some baking. I am passionate about food,so I will be putting up some food posts from now on. They came out really nice and soft, which is great. I was able to use my moms beautiful tea cups which are amazing, love the vintage feel too them. I am quite pick about the tea I drink, Lipton Green tea seems to be the only tea that soothes and relaxes me,so I highly recommend it!

What kinds of tea do you use?

Cloche Chic

On my trip to London back in May, I landed up going to a market in Greenwich. I picked up this gorgeous bell-shaped ladies hat inspired by the 1920s. The lady who sold it to me, claimed to have made hats for the Harry Potter movies. Love the bright colour of my hat! I am finally able to wear all my great buys I picked up in London, like the butterfly top I am wearing which I have mentioned in a previous post.

You will notice the beautiful daisy's growing in my garden, they were a definite inspiration for my Outfit pic. You can't help but feel happy and alive when you walk out of your house and the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming beautifully and the birds are chirping away!

Sexy Summer Hair

Short Do

Messy Pony

Braided bun
Tinkerbell Bun

Flirty Fishtail

Cascading waves

Touch of braid

It's officially summer, there is just so much more energy to think of new ways to wear your hair, personally I was just to cold in winter to do anything so now I feel inspired!

Time to pull out all the cute braids and wavy summer beach hair! This is a very exciting time. Here are some looks that I am loving right now...it is so unfortunate my GHD and I are best friends..this friendship will have to be on hold for a while!

One look in particular has caught my eye, Braids which are all over the catwalks, so in order for me to perfect the boho trend, I will need to try out some different styles. I am going to get all twisty and go for hippy chic braids this summer!

It is so refreshing to see these great styles, personally in winter my hair only has two styles, tied up or loose...I don't even think these are considered "styles" in there own right:)

What are your favorite hair trends for the summer?

Just Peachy!

I just couldn't wait to wear colour the minute Spring arrived, I mean Winter somehow always tends to be such a dark season with all the browns and blacks. So I decided on my peach top. Peach is a colour many people are scared to wear, which i don't understand. I love how it reminds me of tropical islands.....Wow that caused a five minute day dreaming session.....back to my post now:)

I am a big fan of tops which have tulip style sleeves,it creates a flattering girly look, like the one I am wearing.

Notice I have tied my wedges over my skinny jeans:)Love the way this looks! Oh I must mention how delicate my earings are, I fell in love with them but they are a made from thin shell, so they have a special suede bag for storage:)

Flower Power

Sunnies:Dolce & Gabbana
Accessories: Lullu Belle/Foshini/Fossil
Bag: Nine West
Shoes: Truworths
Leggings:Aldo
Dress: Mr P

I am not much of a heels girl but lately I have taken a liking to my heels,it's about time,as I buy heels for special occasions and they just sit in my cupboard and collect dust...its sad...but no more, I am taking all my heels and giving them the the attention they deserve..and it doesn't hurt that heels make you feel sexy and slender!

My outfit is not very Spring inspired as the day I took it it was still a bit nippy, but I tried to incorporate some flowers for Spring:)

Talking about spring, I will be dreaming of:
Picnic's
Bikini's
Dresses
Going for ice cream
Wedges
Bright Colours

Oh and this is also my doggie Rocco in the pic once again!

P.S Hope everyone has a great weekend! (TGIF)

Thank you so much to Embracing Style for my lovely prize! You made my Friday:)
